Advent time

Happy Advent to everybody!
This song is my dedication to everybody for Advent time:
Two angels
Translation: Mairita Elbrete
Text editor: Gabrielle Crick
Two angles sit
At a gable window and sing
And throw down presents
For everyone passing by.
But no one hears their song
And no one sees them,

And the angles laugh –
How can joy be
Something unwanted!

Listen! Maybe we have to fly away -
Too much is given to everyone here.
Listen! An orphan is crying somewhere;
And calling for happiness to return

Two angles sit
At a gable window and sing
Wishing good luck
To all the passers- by.

Saint Petersburg

Some glimses from Hermitage
(November25 - 29)

My daughters Christina and Katharina went to Saint Peterburg to participate in the festival. One of the most interesting places to see of course was Hermitage.

( In picture my daughter is with mask: Swine flu is also in Saint Peterburg)

A happy birthday to Latvia – November 18th

November 18th is the 91 st Anniversary of the proclamation of the independent Republic of Latvia

This is very special day for everybody. The morning begins with public worship. After it people go to put flowers at the Freedom Monument and create a flower way and watch parade of Latvian armed forces. This day ends with impressive fireworks. I try to put all this in the video.

One of main symbols of Latvia is the Freedom Monument. There is written TĒVZEMEI un BRĪVĪBAI (for Fatherland and Freedom). In my video you can see the hands of the Freedom Monument, holding aloft three stars representing the three historic regions of the country, and essentially the symbol of Latvia.

Lacplesis day

Lacplesis Day

Latvian Freedom Fighters' Remembrance Day
It is a very important day in the life of every Latvian citizen. On November 11 1919, the Latvian Army fought and won a fierce battle against the Russian and German militia. This victory over the forces of Bermont-Avalov was instrumental in the birth of Latvia as an independent nation
... in celebrations of Lāčplēsis Day on November 11, people light candles by Riga Castle wall and at the pedestal of Freedom Monument.

How to make roses from leaves - November 2009

It is very easy - to make nice rose bouquet from maple leaves. Follow step by steps. In case you have any questions please blog me and I'll give more detailed description.

From my experience I advise to iron or put outer leaves between pages as it can roll up.
